Greetings in Jesus' name!
My name is Pastor Jonathan Kabanda. I have had the privilege of serving the Lord as a pastor, evangelist, and church planter for the past 23 years. Together with my wife Betty, we live in Mukono, located 23 kilometers from Kampala City, Uganda. We are blessed with 7 children, including 5 adopted daughters, who are a cherished part of our family.
We lead Horizon Community Church - Mukono Nama, a vibrant and growing congregation committed to worship, discipleship, and outreach. Our broader mission is carried through Akomyawo Africa ministries, which means “The Lord Is Bringing Back Africa to Himself.” This evangelistic ministry is dedicated to preaching the Gospel, planting churches, and raising up leaders to reach communities across Uganda and beyond with the love and truth of Jesus Christ.
We are an EVANGELISTIC ministry. We do the following:
with a Jesus film, festivals, house to house, evangelism in prisons, high schools, universities hospitals, and Revival meetings
We support the underprivileged to pursue education
We give food baskets to the underprivileged, widows and orphans in desperate need
We collaborate with medical and health workers to organize medical camps that target treatment of general issues and provide professional counseling services to people affected by poor mental health and other health conditions.
Because food support is not sustainable, we support single mothers and other underprivileged parents to start small scale businesses to sustain themselves
In Uganda, 30% of children aged 10–13 are orphans, having lost their parents to HIV/AIDS, war, and road accidents—many of which are caused by poor road infrastructure. These children face a future of uncertainty and despair. Our mission is to step in and provide them with the care, support, and love they desperately need. Additionally, 15% of Ugandan women are widows, and 30% of women aged 18–35 are single mothers. Many of these women live in poverty, with no stable income, inadequate nutrition, and face daily stigma and rejection from society. Our ministry is committed to restoring dignity and hope to these vulnerable groups through education, feeding programs, counseling, skill development, and spiritual care.
We support communities to have access to safe and clean water by digging Groundwater Well (boreholes) for them. 32% of Ugandans have access to a basic water supply, and over 21 million people lack clean water.
We are passionate about seeing lives transformed, communities renewed, and Africa restored to God’s divine purpose.
By God’s grace, 7 churches have been planted through our ministry: Buddo Bible Community Church Horizon Community Church – Mukono Kitamba Community Church Luweero Christian Fellowship Mayuge Ransom Community Church Nakaseke Community Church
The Lord sent us to preach the gospel to remote areas preaching the Gospel and do discipleship. we have helped many pastors to plant churches which we cannot count in Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda,Burundi, Tanzania,Nigeria, Philippines Mexico and South Africa.
